Tonka
The tonka bean is perfumery's original gourmand note. Its natural coumarin was one of the first fragrance molecules to be synthesized, and it has defined perfume for over a hundred years.
How tonka smells in perfume
Tonka smells warm and sweet with notes of vanilla, roasted almond, freshly mown hay, and dark tobacco. It provides fragrances with a soft, soothing, and slightly nostalgic base. Tonka pairs beautifully with iris, dates, cocoa, honey, and rum.
