The coquecigrues is a fanciful motif printed on a wooden board at the Oberkampf factory in Jouy-en-Josas around 1792 and the starting point for a contemporary creation by the artist Christian Astuguevieille. He enjoys revisiting the codes of the Toile de Jouy and associating with it his own pictorial language which he calls "imaginary writing". The Jouy canvas motif appears intermittently, like the geometric geometrical counterfeits of the famous manufacture, beneath the lines drawn in brush and India ink, created by the artist. The original document is kept at the Musée de la Toile de Jouy in Jouy-en-Josas. Printed on linen in France.
