Contre Pouvoir is a woody amber fragrance with clear edges. It starts fresh with bergamot and grapefruit, and the cardamom provides a dry spiciness that makes the opening more austere than sweet. After a while, the heart emerges with licorice and maté. It gives a bitter green note that feels mature and a little smoky, while elemi ties the whole thing together with a light, resinous warmth. In the base are vetiver and burley tobacco that provide stability and depth, and ambroxan makes the scent linger and feel close to the skin. This is a niche perfume that is especially suitable when you want something more marked – for evening, cooler weather and occasions where you want to smell distinctive but not too sweet.
