Smell of the Now

September Fragrance Focus: Grano from Jijide

September Fragrance Focus: Grano from Jijide

Of Franco-Lebanese origin and based in Beirut, perfumer Nour Akoum has been guided by her sensitive nose since childhood. Already at a young age, she was able to isolate and describe scents with striking precision. After studying Chemistry, she pursued her dream at ISIPCA in Paris, where she refined her craft and discovered the creative power of olfaction. Experiences across France, the Netherlands, and Italy followed, before she returned to Lebanon to establish her independent perfumery lab.

Grano is her ode to a Paris morning after rain. Picture glistening sidewalks reflecting a golden light, the air thick with petrichor and the irresistible perfume of nearby boulangeries. As you wander, the scent of raw dough meets the warmth of melting butter, a slow crescendo toward the comforting embrace of freshly baked bread. It’s an atmosphere both dense and luminous, urging you to pause, breathe, and surrender to its rhythm. By the time the humidity fades, the bread emerges—crunchy, fragrant, and deeply satisfying.
